What are the benefits of laser dentistry?

Laser is a popular word in advertising, but devices differ. The Duhok clinic uses the Waterlase iPlus by Biolase, an Er,Cr:YSGG laser that works with a water spray that cools the area and improves precision, so it can be used on gum and on tooth tissue. The first use is replacing old veneers: laser energy passes through many glass-ceramics such as E.max and weakens the bonding cement, so the veneer can often be lifted off while preserving more enamel than cutting it away with a drill. The second is gumline contouring for a gummy smile or uneven gums before veneers, often without stitches in simple cases. The third is cleaning the implant surface and inflamed tissue as part of treating peri-implantitis.

Dr. Khalid Saeed is open about the limits. The laser does not suit every material: zirconia crowns and very thick or opaque veneers may need conventional removal. A gummy smile caused by the jaw bone is not solved by laser alone, and advanced implant inflammation with major bone loss may need surgery. The decision to use the laser is made after examination and X-rays, and alternatives are written in your plan.
